Ham, Fig & Merlot BellaVitano® Panini

Savory, spicy, fruity, tangy – the delicious layers of this toasted sandwich are built on a foundation of rich, creamy melted Merlot BellaVitano®. Not your everyday toasted cheese – but easy enough for every day!  Side with fresh pears for a perfect plate.

If you do not have a panini press, heat a grill pan over medium heat. Add sandwich to hot pan and top with another heavy pan; press down on sandwich to slightly compress. Reduce the heat to medium, cook for 3 minutes or until toasted. Turn the sandwich, replace the heavy pan and the sandwich; cook until cheese is melted, about 3 minutes.

Merlot BellaVitano®

8 ½” thick slices grainy bread

4 teaspoons grainy mustard

8 ounces thinly sliced ham

4 ounces shredded Merlot BellaVitano®

2 cups baby arugula leaves

¼ cup fig preserves

Cooking spray


Step 1

Spread 4 bread slices evenly with mustard; top with ham, Merlot BellaVitano®, and arugula. Spread fig preserves evenly over 1 side of the remaining 4 bread slices; top sandwiches, fig preserve side down. Lightly spray the outside of each sandwich with cooking spray. Place sandwiches on panini grill; cook 3 minutes or until bread is toasted and cheese is melted.
